ok so i did search, what i didnt find is how these 2 codes are directly related to each other.

Code 34= fuel cut
Code 71= EGR Temp

So i was coming home from a buddies house tonight gettin on the freeway and i moderately but not WOT take it up to 11psi, i didnt hit fuel cut(becuase i would know) and then my check engine light comes on, i come home and its throwing those 2 codes. Mods are in sig. I am thinking that maybe my new SSQV has a boost leak somewhere? whats the best way to test that for a leak? the only thing is my car will hold 11psi steady for as long as i hold it, if i had a boost leak wouldnt it runoff?

EGR temp means the ECU is not reading the voltage that should be produced by the exhaust temp sensor when the EGR command is given.

It is not related to overboost.

Nick is correct...it also means you have a CA car since they are the only USDM models that have the EGR temp sensor. Code 34 will only light up the CEL as long as the over boost condition is present, but will be stored in the ECU as long as power is supplied to it...you ECU may have had it stored for a while. Pull your EFI fuse and it will clear the code 34.

even after i've disconnected the battery though to reset code 71 i've gotten the EGR code twice now, so the EGR temp sensor is bad?

The sensor is bad, your EGR valve or the EGR VSV is bad.

And disconnecting the battery WILL reset the code in the ECU.
