I have installed the new coolant temperature sesnor ... The plug coming off the harness had been cut so I used a plug off a 7MGE. I connected the green wire and brown wire to the sensor. Are those even the right wires? Those are the only two that I see no connected unless I am missing something. I have tried hooking them both up ways yet I still get the code 22. I left the negative off of the battery for 5 minutes each time to make sure but still get the code and this is my last code to clear ... Any suggestions or thoughts?

Green and brown is correct. Either you have a short/open in the wiring or the sensor is shorted/open. Put a meter across it. In order for the code to be cleared the signal must be between 100 mv and 4.8 volts...
I know the sensor itself is good considering I just took it out of the box. I will check the voltage and do a resistance test when I get off of work. However, I'm a bit confused on one thing. Does the coolant temerature sensor effect the performance of the car? I definitely want to clear the code regardless so I can help keep monitor of the car for any future codes, but is this what makes the car run rough until everything warms up?

Jdub is right as usual. As long as you have that code the ECU will "think" the engine is already hot from the moment you cold start it. Therefore it will not provide cold start enrichment, warm up enrichment, warm up timing advance, or cold idle speed control. Put in less technical terms it'll run like crap until it warms up...
After that code is cleared it should run very well. What can I expect? I have no idea what a 7MGTE runs with no problems. I bought the car pretty much as is and just had to tie up a few loose ends. I think the wastegate is set at either 8 or 10psi. I just got it up to 5 to make sure the BOV worked. I'm guessing it should out perform my Integra that I had a few years ago that had a supercharged B18C
Hey JJ and Jdub. Quick question along this path regarding the TCCS and the coolant sensor.
When I got my corolla, it would work fine until it got up to operating temperature. Ocassionally it would throw an engine light on, bog and stall. When this happens you could smell excess fuel. When attempting to restart, it would be have like a flooded engine.
I pulled the codes off the ecu and found it indicated a faulty coolant temperature sensor. I replaced the sensor with a spare one and the code has gone, and the car works perfectly. It has continued working great for several thousand kms.
I'm just curious about what/why the ECU would flood the engine. Perhaps there is a short in the sensor over a specific temperature range, causing the ECU to add fuel enrichment as if it were cold when it's not necessary?

Is the brown wire supposed to be running off of another wire? [see pictures]

That brown wire is the E2 ground for the engine sensors. It is shared by all the ECU sensors that need grounds, and terminates only at the ECU. It is correct as configured.
