Clutch problems.... hard then soft then hard again?

OK so this is a problem I'm having as well.

Sometimes it feels like the clutch is softer and other days harder....

Like I felt it was hard since I got the clutch installed.... then a few months later it seemed VERY soft for like 3 days... then hard again. But it was "squeaking" before it went soft. Now it's hard and the squeaking went away. Very weird.

It also feels like sometimes the clutch grabs very close to the bottom of the ground, and other times that it grabs more in the middle range of when the clutch is pressed. So that seems to be "moving around" as well as it feeling softer/harder at times.

I just have a hard time predicting where my clutch wants to be when I give it gas to shift, and I'm surprised sometimes at how hard/soft it becomes.

Any idea what could be causing these things?

I agree with the other two posts. Check your clutch fluid level ASAP, make sure you have fluid in your resevoir. Then bleed the system. Keep an eye on your fluid level after the system bleed, make sure you're not losing fluid. If you are losing fluid, gotta find where it's leaking from.

I had a broken weld in the clevis pin bracket on the end of the master cylinder shaft. You can check it at the top of the brake pedal arm where the clevis pin connects to the bracket. If the bracket is loose on the shaft it won't always push the master cylinder piston in the same distance.

This is a weird problem that causes intermittent clutch action problems. It isn't typical but is worth checking out.

^^^ My thoughts exactly. the pedal "moves" if it is wobbly then def checking the mounting of it. Soft is probably air in the system, and when its hard its probably in that right position where the pedal itself is dragging.

I have come across situations like this, other vehicles, but they were due to throw out bearing not being replaced from prior clutch job. The bearing would get cocked sometimes on the input shaft and sometimes it wouldnt.
