I did a quick search but didn't find anything really close to what I'm going to ask. anyway I had to replace my clutch master cylinder today (did the slave about a month ago) and forgot to adjust the linkage so it sits really close to the floor. At first I was going to change it but it disengages all the way when I push it in the way it is so wanted to ask first. what could go wrong by leaving it close to the floor like it is besides wearing out the clutch because it makes the clutch movement when shifting minimal. thanks

You bled the clutch right? Just making sure...
oh yea I know it's just because I never ajusted the master cylinder linkage but is it realy going to hurt anything being down that low besides risking rubbing even when fully pressed

Yes, it will hurt many things. Ask me how I know. (Long story ;)) Just do it right...
Like...I don't really see it hurting anything since it disangages all the way and engages all the way my pedale just happins to be really close to the floor so I have less travel. not trying to argue just need a reason why I shouldn't do it.

You'll see what happens when you go to shift at WOT. Get used to it I guess... I prefer it to be where it's supposed to be.

Yea I see what your saying there but usally match rpm even when I'm at WOT so it just slides right in. I do need to back it out a little but I still feel like it will be nice to have such a short throw

jesus dam ricer aren't yeah :biglaugh:

from the sounds of it , you either dont have it bled at all or correctly. or you did not add enough fluid back into the systme while bleeding.

the hydrualic clutch is self adjusting, no need to play with the clutch adjustment at the floor all that is for is pedle freeplay, and if you dont under stand what that is, dont play with it..

well then something is seriously fucked on my car because I have an inch of pedal and I bleed the clutch completely and i does have fluid in the resv.

First off...what master cylinder did you buy? Second. The clutch pedal is SUPPOSED to be at the same height as the brake pedal (adjust the height, then adjust the freeplay). My clutch pedal sits an 1-1.5" lower than the brake pedal. BUT, the master cylinder I bought wasn't toyota and the pushrod is shorter. Plus I hate having a really deep clutch. 20k miles and 40+ passes at the track and it still engages and disengages perfectly (rps street/sport clutch)

as long as it's engaging all the way and disengaging all the way it's fine. Just make sure it's doing both of those, and make sure there's some freeplay at the top. if the pedal is all the way out and the clutch is engaged the pedal should move at least 1/2" before you get any pressure

I'd say if it shifted on it's own there's a few things to look at.
It's not bled right
Master/slave cylinder is busted
you didn't tighten something under the dash

Mine started moving around on it's own (well...not the pedal itself, but the engagement) and it was a leaky master cylinder

good luck. I just screwed around with it until i figured out EXACTLY how the system worked and adjusted it from there

ummm....I just got done replacing the slave and master thats the whole reason I had this problem. It wasn't me not bleeding it right I bleed it three times to make sure. I metioned an ajustment I forgot to address. well that bolt happined to not be tight. lol and that what made it shift on it's own.
