Thought I'd share what started as an ordinary clutch job on my DD Civic that turned into a trans teardown and differential replace job..lol I drained my trans oil and it was completely silver..I knew this couldnt be good.. Once I pulled the axles I noticed chunks of metal next to the axle seals.. definitely not good.

Everything in the trans looked completely normal..until I checked the diff

Metal chewed up my case and broke a few ribs out of the inside.

Trans is out of a 99 Civic Si. Engine is a b18c out of an Integra. Apparently the diffs in the non LSD transmissions have notoriously weak spider gears which tend to break fairly easily, especially if abused.(Im sure the previous owned abused it as I have just driven it like a DD)

I found it odd that I didn't noticed anything with how the car drove/shifted. It shifted smooth and perfectly, no grinds, no noise. Usually when this happens the diffs completely lock up and you cannot spin the wheels at all. Guess im lucky..lol...kinda

Yea that would normally be the case..But what sucks is I am trying to get this car ready to sell so this was not what I wanted to do.
