Yeah, turn the car off and let the pump create the pressure. If you can't create and hold a steady pressure, you have a leak.

you cap the rad cap off and one out let pumper here up to what ever you want about 18 should be fine this si will be punshment test and let it sit watch the guage see if it moves that's it

Yea I had a cheapy plastic on and it broke on me. Cost me almost the same as that one.
