Check Engine Light Codes 12 and 71...how to fix??

Hi guys ive had my check engine light on for awhile now it goes on and off, finally decided to find out what the codes were and 12 i believe is RPM Signal/Distributer or Circuit, ECM. and Code 71 EGR System Malfunctioning/EGR Temp. Sensor or Circuit, EGR-VSV, ECM?? HELP PLZZ! Can me procrasinatiing on these codes damage my engine? How can i fix them? Thanks!~

First thing I would do is check your grounds, especially the ECU ones on the intake manifold.

Oh okay i'll make sure to check them make sure they are tight. then try reseting the ECU again? and wait to see what happens?

Got it thanks! ill make sure to do that as well, nice write-up btw very straight forward. Now if for some reason after i do all this the codes still keep coming up what coudl be the next step? I just did a BHG job recently about 800 miles ago, could this have to do anything with the codes??

Not likely. Usually when an error code pops up AFTER you fix a problem it turns out to be a wiring issue. Check out those grounds and go from there.
