Charging system mod ?

Is there somewhere in the 7M charging system that I can install a relay so that under full throttle, the charging system cuts out ?

I was thinking that pin 8, on the 'C' plug, or pin 3 on the alternator plug (IG) will cut the field, and thus cause the thing to stop charging.
(freeing up a few HP under full throttle blasts down the strip)
But I am not that up on alternators.........

Unless your starting out your race with a dead battery, the altenator isn't going to put much load on the enigine at all. Also, the one time when you need 110% of your electrical system is at WOT. Coil packs need that juice.

On the drag cars with no alternator we run an 18 volt racing battery to compensate for that very thing.

Your idea is doable, but it's probably not a good idea.
