car dies when idling or running

Car cranks fine, and will idle for 3 - 5 seconds completely normally. Then, it will start to die. Somethimes it will recover, sometimes won't. Pressing accelerator will sometimes keep it alive, but will eventually die.

Feels kind of like a big intake leak, but have inspected and can't find any troubles.

No codes
Vaccum is good
Fuel pressure good
Disconnecting the MAF (I'm using a MAFT) does not change the behaviour, but does throw a code.

I had a code 11 when I first started troubleshooting, and found the efi fuse had literally melted. Found a bare spot in the wire to my electric fan. Repaired wire, replaced fuse box, and code 11 went away. All other fuses

Any ideas where to go next?

sounds like you might have a leak somewhere in your intercooler piping.. what does your air/fuel ratio look like and idle? and when pushing the gas?

Thanks, SupraFanatic. I've checked all the IC connections (have hard pipes) and all are good. Good idea - I haven't checked the VFs. I'll see what the computer is reading....

Can you drive the car without problems?
If you can drive it try to boost it hard. You can't boost hard with a big vacuum leak so it will be very obvious where to look if the car hesitates.

If not, check your TPS and your ICSV.

No - the only way to drive it is to (try) and rev the engine to 4 or 5 grand (will only do it every 3rd or 4th attempt), pop the clutch, keep your foot in it until it dies. Then, repeat and go another 15 feet.

TPS is new (year or two - 1500 miles or so), but I'll give it a check. ICSV = Idle speed control valve? I'll check it also.

My gut is telling me it's related to the maft box or the maf itself. Anyone know any tests for it?

yeah if you can't drive it at all it's most probably not the icsv nor the tps.
indeed your maft system should be next on your check list.
