Can i use a 3 inch pipe to replace the afm housing with afm electronics

I was wondering if i could replace the oem AFM aluminum housing , and use a 3 inch maybe 4 inch aluminum pipe using oem AFM electronics either lex afm or oem I have both afms. I know most of you all will say go maft pro or map ecu . Just trying to do something out of the ordinary who knows it might work out.

Like steven said, it's a bad idea. First, we have a KVM not a MAF, different methods of operation with different results to changing the housing characteristics. The KVM is tuned to the flow characteristics of the OEM housing. The shape, sensor distance from the opening, distance from the laminar flow element(honeycomb), as well as distance from the bend and radius of the bend in the accordion hose, are all tuned for the sensor. Changing any of these will cause inaccurate, on up to inconsistent readings by the KVM sensor. A bad situation to be in when dealing with forced induction.
