7mgte. I have one factory sensor (8961530020) in the front and a 1jz sensor (8961520030) in the back. only mixed them because I got the 1jz sensor brand new for free from a friend and just bought the connector for $10 and soldered it in. done the complete rewire with rg58 cable. soldered all connections. theyre solid. grounded to the firewall behind the glovebox. it takes longer to show up now but still throw code 52. wondering if the problem is because I mixed sensors or if maybe the remaining factory sensor is bad. I was told the sensors themselves are identical just with a different connector.

Should have grounded them like factory.

Second the 1j sensor prolly won't work as its meant for 2.5l and has a different resonance.

when I search the part # for the 1j sensor it says its compatible with the 3L it just needs a different connector. the 1j ks harness I got for the connector was grounded the same as I did it. the shielding was peeled back and taped off on the motor end and grounded on the other end. I followed this guide http://oldschool.supracentral.com/htm/knock.htm#rewire
its not a sensor from a jz engine. in either 90 or 92 Toyota changed the connection on the sensor to the jz style. but im pretty sure the sensor is compatible. the sensor I have with the 1j connector would've come on a 7m from 92 I think

If you have a pre 89 i would stick to those sensors. ive seen many a issue where people switch from an older sensor to a newer on and vise versa and have issues.

Throw it in the sale section for someone else to scoop it up :) good luck and let us know the results with the OEM sensor.
