Can a mis-alined CPS cause a misfire?

Ok so thats the question. I had to replace my cps due to the wires breaking....but I had the mis fire before replacing it. Can re-adjusting the CPS fix the misfire? Cause I have reaplaced the wires and plugs and checked the coil pack, an they are all getting and sending spark. I was also told that maybe the spark plug is being grounded out...causing it to not fire. Any ideas on that one? For any help.... thanks.

I'm also in a misfire dilemma, but i have my CPS adjusted right and i still misfire, so from my experience no.
Make sure you have your plugs in the right cylinder and coil pack firing order.
Check if your EGR is stuck.
I have a nice vacuum leak, so hopefully it should clear it up. We'll see. :/

I do believe a misaligned cps will a random mis fire, probably not designated to one cylinder though. Technically that would mean it is out of time, firing at the wrong time. Align number one cyl at top dead center and reinstall cps. per tsrm......... my best advice. The plugs have a natural ground through the head, so plugs grounding should not be an issue. If i remember right, a ground occurs inside the cps which in turn sends the current to the plugs. dont quote me though. someone help out and make sure i am not giving incorrect info.

Dont these cars have a lean rich code, along with egr? Have either of you chcked for codes?

if the "egr" is the vaccuum then thats not my problem, but the only code i get is no o2, and thats cause i have no o2. Oter then that ill try re adjusting the CPS....from TDC

I would get that O2 none the less.
If the EGR stay stuck then you may misfire.
Make sure your coilpack and wires are in the designated cylinder?
my ICV is leaking so i ordered a gasket for that and i was missing a couple bolts on the lower intake plenum which are causing a vacuum leak.
I'm crossing my fingers because everything else seems fine and i've checked it over like 4 times now.

car will idle like hell. good way to check is get a vacuum pump attach directly to egr valve vac port, start car apply vac and see if the rpm changes.

Ok so I was really bored today....and started working on the Supra. Well I got to thinking, and did it the right way, I made a list . I thought....im getting spark...the compression is obviously there, so fuel? Well come to find out, the injector plug on the number 5 cylinder looked a little old to me....So a short trip to napa, and 7 doll hairs later, and some nifty soldering work....and the problem is solved...it wasnt making the connection, which means no fire.....duh. So problem solved thanks for all the help and ideas.

Sounds completely retarded, but try your fuel filter and the 12v mod. Does wonders for misfire when everything else is eliminated.

I fixed my issue, was a nice Vacuum leak, running good except for a random coolant loss.

what was your vacume leak! check to see if there are exhaust gasses in the coolant.

My lower intake. I just rebuilt everything so the gasket didn't seal right. Problem fixed though.
