Hello all,

I am going with a set of BC264 cams in my current build but I have a set of mint OEM camshafts from my JDM motor with 31k miles on them that I plan on storing for a long time for a future build. What is the best product/storage advice you would recommend on these camshafts to keep them from rusting besides just motor oil?

Thanks.

what about engine build up lube or wheel bearing grease? You can buy cam storage tubes or make some out of pvc pipe and end caps.

Cosmoline is what Caterpillar uses, and while an effective rust preventative, it is a pain in the butt to clean off.

Best thing you can do is wrap them after you oil them up.

Something tells me my stock cams are probably pretty rusty by now... although we live in an area that is unfamiliar with the concept of humidity, it has been 8 years now since those cams were in an engine.

Oh well, might make some neat stuff out of them. Towel racks, shift knobs, whatever else I can think of to do with quality metal...
