cam postition sensor question

the wire harness on my cps broke off so i just connected the wires in the right order. but the wire that is wrapped around all the wires(ground i think, like a coax cable) i just cut off. i heard something like this causes the engine to take a while to start. is this true? my car has to crank for a while before it actually starts and im hoping this to be the problem. thanks

That's not your problem. That wrap is there to protect the wires.

ok, i wanted to make sure the wrap was unneeded but i just pulled the headoff and back on yesterday and finished late at night so im pullin code 52 because i dont think ths knock sensors are wired right, someone before me did a rewire and i just threw on some normal connectors to the wires and cut the coax back on the ks wires. i didnt have any codes before and thats the only code i have. ill fix 52 tonight though, i havent had time yet and my car is so slow with 52.

I would get a piece of plastic split loom to cover those wires...a lot of heat in that area.

You will need to get the code 52 fixed (as you know). A difficult to start could be several issues...I would start by removing the ISCV and cleaning it (requires disassembly).

everytime, if im driving then turn it off, then turn it back on without letting it sit for a while it starts right up but after it sits for a while it has trouble. it is not that it wont start but just has to turn over more than it should to start.

not tested the battery but its brand new like a week ago. maybe low from figuring out why it wouldnt start when we put the engine in (like a week ago, would not start due to cps wires bad). but yeah ill charge it up anyway. as for cranking times sometimes it takes around 8 seconds which is alot longer than it should. right now the intake manifold is off (to fix code 52) and ill clkean the iscv but is there anything else i should clean/ check while im there? ill check the cold start injector too.

Make sure the check valve under the ISCV is clear. Will it crank faster with the gas pedal slightly depressed?

^^^^it doent matter where the pedal is at its still the same, ive tried many positions. but anyway i fixed the code 52 thing ad it was running good, then i replaced my stock air filter and box with a 3" inlet cone air filter. all was going well until i was in third revin like 2500 dropped down to 2nd revcin pretty high and hit fuel cut pretty damn hard and like always the check engine light came on and when i checked for codes i got 34(turbo pressure abnormal) and 52 again(knock sensor curcuit). i turned down the boost a little(via mbc) and reset codes. no more 52 or 34 so i dont know why 52 poped up all of a sudden. but 3/4 of the engine power is back but it still feels uite sluggish. almost positive there is no boost/vac leak and new plugs(platinum pre gaped, which i heard was not good in our cars, but all autoone had). where should i start?
