Unless Im using totally wrong search terms, I cant find anything about what the actuall differances are between the ABS and NON-ABS brake master cylinders are.

So does anyone know what the differnaces are between them????

Well I just had both in my hand and the only thing I can see thats different is that the ABS unit was aluminum and the non-ABS unit was cast iron. Other then that, no differance that I could see... So why did toyota do this?????

IIRC they swapped ends as well on the later models...

The aluminum ones are lighter and don't rust internally as easily...

Very true but the aluminum will wear in the bore faster too...

.....................................................................

For the 90 (as in my car) the non ABS unit is cast iron (or well the original was) the ABS unit that I got in was aluminum. Looking at the EPC, they actually list 3 unit 2 of which are for ABS so that really screws things up...

47201-14610 = 8/86 - 8/90 with ABS
47201-14640 = 8/90 - 5/93 with ABS
47201-14730 = 1/86 - 5/93 Non-ABS

There is also two other numbers but they superceed to numbers above so no need to list them.

I think the later model supras all were changed to aluminum, before that the MC was steel.

Pretty sure it was in the transition year.

If you're ordering from toyota for an 86.5-88 you would probably get an aluminum one anyways I doubt they would continue selling the steel ones once they replaced them with aluminum. Even if that's what they came with.
