Brake lights stay on

I just bought an '86.5 Supra, and when I hooked up the battery; the brake lights come on, and stay on. There is a yellow "lamp failure" box sitting in the trunk. Could that have anything to do with this problem, or do you think that I need a new brake light switch?

Same thing happend to my integra. There was a screw that fell out right on the brake pedal that kept the light on. Once I put the screw back in then the lights shut off.

yeah i would say that it is the stop light switch on the brake pedal. just reach your arm up there and twist it off, it was real easy on mine.

+1 for brake light switch. I think replacing this should fix the problem.

you could always bypass that stupid box. Mine goes on and off regardless if all the lights are working.

Update: It was the brake light switch. The switch just needed to be adjusted closer to the pedal.
