Boosting Stock Twins

14psi is considered "safe" on a daily basis. But, I know that some people have taken it higher on a daily basis. (like 17psi or so).

im runing wastegate which on dyno was 14psi. that is what i was told but now at a light when i stop after boosting, white smoke passes by and it pisses me off:3d_frown:

rofl.. as much as I agree, the honest figure is anything _<18. stock twins dont smoke from boost, they smoke from blow by, coking and other such gayness. that's unfortunately the sad fact of CT12a's.. funny thing is even with those things absent, they still eventually blow the seals.
thats why as soon as you get your car, start saving for a nice single. I mean if I had to I'd throw my CT26 on there and its not upgraded, but at least its somewhat of a back up until I get my upgraded hx35.

Truthfully Garret's are pretty inefficient when compared to other manufacturers. There are better ones out there. Mitsubishi does make great turbos, Garret just kinda dominates because they only do turbos.
Well, if my truck is any indication of how long and how well the Holset turbos work I'm sold.

I am contemplating this idea. I have a holset hx-35, t3 manifold and a v-band DP. I might just stay with stock twins, but my turbos may be shot (or my valve stem seals, not sure, but it does blow some smoke by me when I sit a little after running it around).
