I would say go with a ct26/ 60 trim note the 60-1, get some 550s, afpr, supporting mods. Take a look at what a ct26/ 60 trim can do at 18psi

All this time i thought the ct26 upgrade would be bad after talking to some people. I hear since the only things thats changed on the turbo is the front wheel and that makes is it hard on the bearing and the shaft. Thats why they fail. But this website link you gave me, very impressive, and the guy had it for 11 years.

It's the fact of putting a large wheel in a small housing, it causes surge, and kills the turbo.

Larger the wheel, the quicker it happens...

Get a Boss Turbo and be done with it!! Honestly unless you have had an upgraded CT26 and a bolt on turbo like the Boss most people are biased and pump out just what they read on the internet.

I have had a CT26 60-1 turbo and now have a JT58 (60-1 T4). There is a night and day difference between the two. With the CT I could boost 23 psi and it would hold to redline but I can make the same power with my JT58 at 5 psi less. I also know that with the JT turbo all I have to do is run 25psi and some race gas and I'll hit 500rwhp. with the CT I would've never been able to run enough boost to hit 500rwhp.

I would've gone with a 61mm T4 turbo or a GT35 but I didn't want to have to make a new DP, buy a new manifold.

The Greddy turbo has been proven to fall on it's face and it is way over priced (TD06 bolt on) Had one for 4 weeks, and didn't have much more power than my CT26 60-1.

Ive heard from alot of people that the ct26 is waste of money in the long run. SO i wont be going for something like that. So if i was to decide on a turbo by name brand like sp or boss. Which is better or are they both in the same level.
When i say "better" I'm talking about spooling time and reliability. IM only looking to get around 400 to 450 whp. Something that's not overpriced.

I got to thank all of you guys for helping me on this man, I'm starting to narrow down what i want.

Ive been looking into upgrading my stock turbo too. Current mods are:
Spearco Replica FMIC, Hardpipes, TT pump, 550 - lex afm, 3 inch turbo back no cats, apexi filter, safc (not installed), wideband and egt to come.
Ive decided that a CT upgrade is pretty much pointless unless yours is about to blow up, if your looking for 400+ hp that is. Im trying to stick with the stock manifold but thats where things get tricky. Do you want to stay with the stock manifold or go T4? Im debating between a SP61GT or a Boss Jr. 60-1 trim trip ball bearing. They both run about the same price and are entirely bolt on to the stock manifold. Price wise the Boss Jr. is roughly the same amount is triple ball bearing, where as the SP61GT isn't (unless you get the upgrade which is another 600$). I was trying to get a 1,000$ bolt on turbo, but now its about 1,500 range. Its all about what your really trying to do. Im aiming for 400 rwhp through my rebuilt A341. (My 89 supra came w/ a A341 i dont know why) Im still leaning towards the Boss Jr. though...

remembering the cheap/fast/reliable pick 2 motto.... (and keep in mind this is only my opinions)

cheap ass and easy: .57-60 trim ct

bolt on and decent: Boss or SP series turbos (made to bolt onto the stock manifold)

cheap ass and custom: holset hx35-40's

semi-annoying but good (if you fix the bad welds): Chinabay SS mani with t4 based turbo

price isn't a factor:......Hell I am a college student so I dunno ask Upgradedsupra or Brian (slow66)
