BC Cams???

Would the street cams (264/264) be a worthy mod? Any noticeable power gains on a stock head? I have many other mods but my head is rebuilt stock. Just curious as to whether I should go with the street cams or the race spec.


btw-I posted this in the HorsepowerFreaks section but I dont think theres enough traffic in that section.

How much power are you going for? If I could do it all over again, I would stick with stock cams until going over 550 rwhp. Otherwise, your money is better spent elsewhere.

Well, at the time, my power goals are roughly 450rwhp, but my engine is fully built to withstand more, so Im wondering if this would be a worthy mod to gain some power now with my current setup, as well as stick around for when I want more power. I like the price for them, so Im wondering if this would be a good time to get them....Anybody have any numbers to show that they have gained from these cams?(264/264) I know the cams are a great upgrade for the 1J but I havent seen anything on the 7M.

Yes, dyno numbers are needed to end the rumor that a stock 7M head won't flow any more with bigger cams.

It's already been proven that cams WILL make more power on a stock head. A while back, "BoostedSupra" put on some mild reground cams on his SP63 powered supra with a stock head. IIRC, he picked up about 20rwhp and that was at lower boost.

wow. nothing like the 1jz 130 WHP gain i got on my 1jz cams.. I though that cams would have really helped the 5000+ range as thats where it feels the 7m chokes.
