Real quick; Small black cable coming off of the positive post on the battery, what is it?

Whenever I start my car it's a 50/50 chance of it starting. Either it starts, or, lights flash real quick and everything goes dead. Typical short right?

Open hood, move that cable and it makes a minute electrical sound. Go to start car, car starts.

Repeat.

If I had to guess, would that be the car's factory anti theft system?

Would research but I have little time due to work.

Thanks!

I would say a ground haha. Pics?

Make sure your batter cables are tight, and in good shape.

Ground? Isn't chassis ground on the negative side?

Similar to the black cable on the positive terminal here:

Now that I am up, I will reference the manuals.

Got it. Tard that own the car before me butchered the harness and the starter has grounding issues.

All soon to be replaced with a new engine/harness/etc.
