Autometer EGT Probe Question.

ok i bought an autometer EGT gauge + probe. My problem is i cant figure out wat is the size of the bung where the probe screws on to. The bung itself screws onto where ever i tap a screw in hole for it. I thought it was 7/16th's but it still not a good fit, it gets tight but there still would be exhaust leak.

Anyone have experience with this?

Are you talking about the allen bolt that holds the probe in place? Probly just call Autometer, but it should have came with the gauge. Find out the size from them and go pick up an allen bolt/screw/we

Yeah...my Apexi was metric Where you planning to mount it? If it's on the bottom of the turbine housing close to the flange, there's enough metal there to tap directly...no need for a bung. Seal with copper RTV on the threads.

i was gonna mount it on the top of #6 cyl. exhaust mani. i already tapped the extra housing i have but its not sealed right, so either i have to find a way to seal it or tap my other manifold.

Yeah, tapping into a curved surface can do that. Can you get a bung to weld onto the manifold where you tapped already? Might be a pipe thread on that adapter you showed in the pic...head over to the hardware store and try some of the pipe fittings. That's what I ended up doing for my air temp sensor for the EMS I'm going to use...found a fitting with the correct ID threads, but was threaded on the outside. Lathed the outside threads off and walla, had my bung.
