So i am thinking i am going to go play with some friends auto-crossing. Some say Supra's are to heavy, not good for it ect. Has anyone here done it? I am not out to win with top points but would like to just have fun. It seems to me its like the whole size matters thing, to me its more about the skill of the driver then the equipment your working with.

From what I have read you need to do a decent amount of suspension work to make it a good contender like coil overs, subframe bushings, control arm bushings, traction arms etc... But if your just out for fun then go for it, I bet your car will want to slide right off the track when you get enough speed though.

Give it a shot, worst that can happen is you kill a cone or two... seems like fun to me. :)

However, that said, you wouldn't sword fight with a sledge hammer would you? ;)

I've done auto cross in my NA. What i've found, an NA is slightly under-powered for its weight. That being said, its about control more than speed. A good suspension setup and some good tires are key and it can be loads of fun. I've done coilovers, subframe solid inserts, ST sway bars, adjustable end-links & poly bushings all around. This is just my experience talking. Others may differ. Give it a shot and enjoy! here's a link to one of my runs, not fast, but fun.

Not true at all I used to autox my 91 NA with stock suspension and brakes and I took 7th overall out of 64 people in PAX times and 15th overall in RAW times. The point of autox is to take the car out of the equation and determine the skill of the person.

Yes autocross is a lot of fun in any car. supra's are a bit heavy and a bit big for some autcrosses it really depends on how big of a coarse you have. my supra does well because I have a 1jz with 4.30 diff so I don't get out of first gear usually but my turbos stay spooled. stock suspension for now though as you can see from the picture, way to much body roll.

Stock TEMS I'm guessing? I'm planning on running my stock 87 turbo hardtop next month, hopefully mine doesn't roll quiet as much.. :nono:

Anyone autocross any automatic cars by chance?

If it's anything like the autocrosses in this area (lame), you never leave 2nd gear so it's probably not any different in regards to auto/manual.

haha no, not even as good as TEMS, just 23 year old whatever the NA suspension. I'm really looking forward to upgrading some time.

Autox is a good time. First time I took my supra out was able to beat a WRX with a similar driver. Of course that was also when I rod-knocked...*sigh*...that was almost 4 years ago. And kelson those tech autox's are rough even in a miata...

"stock TEMS with Whiteline adjusteable sway bars" LOLz

Hey thats my car! I think autocross is a great time and all the shit you hear about Supra's sucking in corners is plain wrong. Good tires would be my recomendation, I ran Dunlop Star Spec z1's last year and I am running Hankook Ventus RS-3's this year. I also have a few more videos of the car in my profile. Here is probably my favorite one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPjq-2Zg04w&feature=relmfu

I actually disagree with you PAX sucks and is stupid. Being the fastest in your class even sounds better then telling people you took 1st overall with some gay "handicap" applied to your time. Plus if you drive a car that is FTD fast in RAW time it is so much more work/precision required for the driver then some asswhole in their stock "insert any slow car here" going way slower but PAX fixes the time. Just my $.02

Really though Autocross is just a cheap easily accessible thing to do with the car between Road Cousre HPDE's, now that is real fun.

I autocrossed in my stock 83 MKII back in the mid 90's. Loads of fun, and the only course I ran on definintely caterd to fast drivers not fast cars. There was one straight on the course to get in 3rd gear for a second or two other than that 2nd gear all the way. I beat two other MIII (1turbo 1na), a 300z and a couple mustangs , Back then miata was the craze and there seemed to be hundred of them and were turning the fastest times. To this day still the hardest I have probably run one of my cars. fun. highly recomend it.
