Have a problem that just stared a few days ago.
Car won't come out of park and go into other gears. I have to depress the "shift lock" to get it to function. Never was like that before.
Could it be some bad solenoid in the tranny? Gremilins?
The thumb button depressess normaly, but no movement from to park to the other gears.

It shouldn't be hard to fix, as long as it's still available from toyota. If not, time to go junkyard hunting. Honestly, first i'd check the power wires with a volt meter to make sure that's working. Do you brake lights work?

Okay,I guess it started when I tried to do a LED tail light conversion. I'm currently trying to get a set of led's to work with the Supra's system. I have a set of load resistors in-line with the drivers side tail light housing, but removed it and put in a stock housing. i got the usual tail light out light on the dash, but it went away as soon as i got the stock housing back in.
i still need to check for codes

I bet your torque converter doesn't lock up when driving either.

Time to start checking fuses, you blew something. Do the tail lights work? Back up to your garage door and see if they turn on when you hit the brakes. It sounds like the car isn't getting the brake signal from the microswitch on the pedal.

Well Ric,I owe you a Pepsi, turns out that the brake light fuse was on the verge of blowing. Weird thing is that I still had tail lights. I guess the elc system didd'nt have enough of a fault to show up on the LFM on the dash.
I replaced the fuse, and sure as shit stinks, the shift lock mechanism returned to normal.
