Can I swap an automatic tach gauge to a manual tach gauge?
Can I swap an automatic speedometer gauge to a manual spedometer gauge?
Thank You

^ Why couldn't you?
Take the gauge cluster out, take out the tach/speedo, and switch them w/ the turbo/5sp ones... it's really simple actually.

So if you go 7mge -> 7mgte, to get all displays working you just have to swap in the turbo gauge cluster in and you good to go? Tac, speedo will work? I guess I should do this if this is the case.

All you HAVE to change is the tach. Or do a re-wire on the NA one. Either way is easy enough. might as well keep the voltmeter, the boost gauge wont work anyway. :icon_bigg

i m lost .... are the guages not working? i am missing why u need to swap them. Last time i checked all the sensors and sending units are the same for the 7mge and 7mgte. Oil pressure, thermostat, all the way to the knock sensor(s). I swapped my auto tranny and put a w58 tranny and driveshaft along with the 7mgte Auto ecu and everything works fine and bolts right up. So i dont see where you will have a problem. Unless the u are going 86-88 yellow plugs vs 89-92 grey plugs

Just be aware that the NA Tach is going to need to be modified to get it to work on a Turbo. I believe there's a variance in the resistance that has to be done to get it to read right. Honestly, unless you're having issues with it, you'll probably want to keep the original tach.

Like everyone else is asking, is there a particular reason why you're wanting to switch the gauges out? If it's because you've got one with different faces, just switch the faces and keep the actual gauge as this would be a lot easier than dealing with the mod to get the Tach working correctly.

Also, you're going to have an issue with an innacurate speedo/odometer if you change out from one to the other. You'll have to get the gauge calibrated (not sure how easy that would be) in order to get it to read right. When going from one car to another, your gear ratio in the diff and tranny are going to be different resulting in speed differences as much as 10-15 mph.
