auto solenoids

Hey guys i have an auto trans and performed self diagnonsis on box, all three solenoids code came up. my supra doesnt kick back gears wwhen i put my foot down and feels like it is in 2nd gear when taking off from a complete stop. in order to get it boosting i have to manually use the first gear, but it still feels like box is holding the car back, so my question is what do these solenoids do exactly?

They block and allow fluid to pass to the clutch packs and bands. It has been a while, but I think you are missing power to the solenoids, which is why it is default.

Might want to make sure the harness to the tranny is connected

Good point. I assume he can shift manually all the way through.
