It's not that it's Area 51, Google doesn't have detailed images for a lot of places, and the same thing happens.

are you looking at the smaller oblong salt lake? or the larger more circular salt lake on the other side of that mountain? if thats area 51 you can zoom in pretty close and see runways, hangers, whatever.
