Anyone tried to graft 87 trim onto 89 center tail-light?

My options are to attempt this or go with a whole new set of trim (not exactly cheap). Seems like it might be a little messy, but I'm going to wait till I have both pieces in hand to see if it's doable.

hm... well I'm in the process of aquiring a couple 89+ center pieces. I may still have a broken one around here somewhere too... if I figure out a good way to do it, I'll document it

The trim can come off tho its a bit tricky.

But in the long run the 89+ trim are better as they dont rust.

hm.... I might be buying a new set of tail lights, since I can't find any good used ones, in that case, I'll probably get a set of fiberglass 89+ trim, and have all the trim painted gunmetal or something

so tempted to be semi-lazy and keep the 88 trim, but I can't find any used lenses for L or R yet, got the center though.
