I've been a big GPS (Garmin) buff for a good couple years now...

And not until my most recent Garmin GPS have I discovered a whole nother side of having this unit for purposes aside from finding food/ATM/golf courses/addresses... But rather, a form of adventurous hunting called

Geocaching

I've done quite a bit of reading on it...and it seems simple, rather as a "sport" for people that travel a lot, hike, hunt or are just simply outdoorsy people.

For any of you with GPS units or simply want an interesting read,

http://www.geocaching.com/faq/

It can explain it better than I ever could...but my main purpose in making this thread is for anyone who does this, any personal experiences or neat 'rewards' you've found with doing this?

I know of people find some pretty wild stuff while doing this...but just wanted any feedback from you folks. This is Off-Topic section, right? :biglaugh:

When I worked as the mascot for Little Caesar's (in the Caesar costume), a few of these people came and logged my coordinates, took pictures, etc.

It seems like fun to me.

Those GPS systems allow the governement to track you MUAHAHAHAHAHA

Um, No.

GPS devices do not actually broadcast your location. The satellites using radio frequencies actually broadcast their own position. Your GPS unit takes that information to figure out where you are (triangulation).
