Another why do it thread: How to install window relay/timmer

I'd like to be able to control my windows when I shut my car off like the newer cars can. I wanted to get a relay or timmer off a two door Toyota but, the dealer says that the e.c.u. plays a part in controlling it. I don't have that circut in my E.C.U, how do I work around it or by pass that circut? Or should I just forget it and do it the old school way. Or can I just buy an seperate timmer??

Probably your easiest option would be an aftermarket alarm. It wouldn't roll the windows up when you shut off the car - I wouldn't want that option on all the time any way... what about times when you want the windows open when the car is shut off? It would roll the windows up when you armed the alarm.

Asking a dealer won't help. Your idea isn't in their book.

The ECU has nothing to do with controlling the power windows...it's a pretty simple circuit. Start by looking at this:

Wiring a time switch from the battery to terminal 1 (replace gauge fuse power) of the Power Main Relay will do what you want. So will a straight battery connection to the same terminal, but your windows and seat lumbar will always be powered.

To add to your post instead of hard wiring it install a 12vdc time delay relay.
