Aluminum Diff Back Cover (Heat) question

So, I painted my 3.73 diff (3 light coats of POR-15 followed by 2 light/1 med coat of Gloss black engine enamel).

I researched as much as I could prior and could find nothing saying "not" to paint the aluminum cover (heat dissipation issue), so I painted it.

The car is highway/city (not track/drifting/fun & silly stuff), so I don't think heat dissipation will be a problem. (currently has 1.35 litres of Toyota LSD oil in it)


Thoughts?

Not an issue. Most of the diff cover is blocked by the subframe. The biggest cooling part is the fins on the bottom and the air that hits the front of the diff.

Thanks for the confirmation. I think that even under heavy load our diffs wouldn't create much heat. They have a lot more fins on them then most. In fact almost the whole differential is fins... Lol
