Hello all,

I'm in the process of reassembling my 7M after an HG job and cleaning, painting a few parts in the process and doing minor upgrades(nothing serious unfortunately). I stumbled into a question, does the alternator bracket fit behind the a/c compressor and between the block? Or infront of the compressor and before the nut that holds the compressor?

Thanks in advance,

Eli

Hopefully these pictures are helpful... alternator bracket first, then A/C bracket and the nut to hold 'em in place. Good luck with reassembly!

Garic. Your timing belt is supposed to be in the center of the sprockets. Not pulled all the way forward. Those pics aren't going to help this guy in the least. He needs a pic of someone who has the alt. installed.
That isn't me. Sorry.

supramicist - not to worry, I know the timing belt is to be centered on the pulleys... that pic was taken during a long reassembly process. Here's how things are looking today (see attached pics)

I think our fellow Supraphile, ill Z, is trying to correctly reattach the alternator adjustment bracket (that allows you to adjust tension on the alternator belt), not the main heavy-duty bracket that bolts directly into the cylinder head. That's why I gave him those first couple of pics to check out. They show how the alternator adjustment bracket sits in relation to the A/C compressor bracket.

Right on. I just read that and it came off sounding harsh on my re-read.
I was just letting you know what I saw is all.

It made me remember that I had to get back in there and situate my belt, because I had it pulled forward also.
