well i had to replace my alternator since it failed on me couple of times, so i replaced it with a new one. now my turbo timer keeps saying that im getting 11v at certain times and then it can be find at only 14.0 or sometimes 14.2, but then my brake like nor my battery light turns on when it drops to 11-12volts, i read that the alternator has a built in regulator, is there any other problem that i should look for? i havent checked the fuse for the ALT yet since its been pouring out, but will tomorrow when it stops. just weird that i get 11-12 volts and my turbo timer blink but the battery light dont turn on, and i even checked with a digital multimeter and it even says 11.9volts, not sure if it could be my amp for the stereo but i dont use the radio that often, i also do have HID but nothing happens when i turn it on, if i turn the defrost it drops down, and the a/c aswell.

this is a 88 GTE 5spd

For it to drop to 12.0 means it is likely not charging. How sure are you that you have a good connection on the back of the alternator. Assuming your new unit is working right. Because if the battery light comes on while driving, it means the battery is being discharged.

yea cause on my old alt, it would charge and then fail on me, and the battery light and the brake light will turn on at the same time, but this alternator, doesn't do that but goes to 12v. i drove around today and went up to 14.5 where it should be

For that matter, are you sure the battery cables and connections are in good condition, as well as the heavy wire going to the back of the alternator? A lot of times the problem is the wiring or connectors.
