I'm working on replacing the heater core and I discovered an aftermarket alarm under the dash. The wiring is a horrible mess of electrical tape and splicing that is preventing me from taking the dash out. I would really like to just cut all this out, but I'm wondering if it's going to cause me problems.

Chances are that it can be removed, but I'd track down the wires to see where they go.

Alarms typically need constant 12V (Can be disconnected, but must be insulated when you do)
Switched 12V (Ditto)
Sensors to the door and trunk pins can be removed easy enough, but should be protected against accidental grounding as it can light the "door ajar" light while driving, and kill your battery.
Possibly connections to the power door locks. No problems there.
Other than that, there will be an output to the park lights and siren. All of these can be disconnected without a problem.

The only think that MAY cause a problem is if the alarm has a starter interrupt. If that's the case, then the wire to the starter is cut, like the neutral start switch, but that should be easy to identify.
