air bag light stuck on

sorry if this is a reposted question but i couldn't find it.

I recentlly replaced a alternator and battery in my mk3. i was given a battery with the positive on the oppisite pole of the battery. everything is back together now and running fine except the airbag light its on. i checked the fuses and and the air bag is still physically in tact. does anyone know what problem is?

Did you put it in backwards?

The ground goes closer to the body.

no they gave me a wrong battery and we didn't catch it till it was too late
