i am having problems with my maf sensor i guess. when i unplug it my car idles fine, and when i rev it up it dosnt shut down at idle. When i plug the maf back it revs like 1600 rpm by itself and when i press the gas pedal it shuts down trying to idle, also i have black smock coming out of my exhaust and a horrible gas milage. Have you ever had this problem before? :1zhelp: , if the sensor is bad, i Want to buy one. (bidpay), Thanks

When you rev it up, it doesn't shut down? Why would it shut down?

Black smoke out the exhaust is a sure sign of grossly incorrect air fuel mixtures. That comes from engine position and timing, and the air flow meter. Pull your codes and see which ones you have.

Before you go buying a sensor, you have an intake leak. Find it, it will not be in plain sight either. The intake leak will cause black smoke, or even better, stalling.

Then come back for the rest.

Speaking of intake leaks, check the air hose between the AFM and the turbo. They've all been dried up and cracked on ALL of my Toyotas. Even the Supra I just bought was no exception, I found tons of cracks in it, especially around the turbo inlet. A cheap fix and was in stock at my local dealer.

i fix the problems. i Use a 22re tps, another O2 sensor, and the problem wasn´t the maf, it was the vsv was blocked and there were no vacuum at all in the fuel pressure regulator, it made the injectors to keep fully pressured, that was causing black smog in my exhaust.
