I got a friend who has a spare 1jzgte with a auto transmission and front sump setup. However it has no ecu or engine harness. Would it be worth it to try and fit it in to a 88 supra 5 speed non turbo. Or should I keep looking else where for a swap

I would keep looking. The amount of money involved in making that setup swapable is too high. You'd have to get a new ECU ($200+), engine harness ($400+), bellhousing ($390), and the rear sump ($550). Totally not worth it bro. You can pick up a 1J that's a rear sump with the harness and ECU for roughly a grand.
