ac compressor

i have an 89 turbo and when ever i turn on the ac button the compressor does not kick on. it just blows normal air. when i connect the wire from the condenser to the positive it engages but the ac button wont do it. is there a circuit breaker somewhere or which fuses couuld be out? i checked the ac fuse in the passenger side kick panel and it was fine. plz help

If the freon is low the ac compressor will not run. If you don't have any gauges look at the sight glass on the dryer. Do you see any fluid. Do you see bubbles when you override the compressor and turn it on. When the compressor is on do you get cold air out of the vents.

Off the top of my head there are three fuses in the kick panels that the ac uses. Cig, tail, gauge. See the tsrm link below.

sounds like the pressure switch is open due to 'low on freon'

you can see if you have low pressure, the "magnetic clutch relay" wont close, which wont engage you a/c compressor.
