I tried a340 from 2jzgte mk4 to 7mgte mk3

Bell housing, torque converter and flex plate, oil pump, will swap from the mk3 gearbox to the mk4 one. That's needed as the mk4 a340 won't attach to the 7mgte
Interesting internals (clutch pack) won't swap from mk4 a340 to mk3 a340
Output shaft won't either.

If I the tailshaft is the "secondary" shaft of the gear box:

If the tailshaft is the drive shaft on the car:

Swapping bell housing, torque converter and flex plate, and buy a custom driveshaft is the only way I found to achieve the swap (I yet have to do a mockup to find the driveshaft length.

Shifter should be in the same place, not sure about the speedo.

Rollus: thanks a ton for the information! Just to confirm, the torque converter will swap right over (with the bigger bellhousing)? I thought the spline count was different on the input shaft. *And* I thought the flex plate bolt spacing was different...the MKIV TT uses 10mm bolts and all the other ones use 8mm bolts. Did you just drill the holes out bigger?

I'm saying a 2jzgte with a341e already as is from an aristo. Into a mk3. Cut the sc400 ds to fit or whatever it needs then does the linkages to floor shifter work? then the speedo?

As I attach the 2JZ A340 to a 7M using the A70 body I won't have problem with linkages, so I can't help there.
For the speedo, IIRC, a converter is needed.

Sorry SideWinder, My explanation weren't detailled enough.

I edit my post then:

So no, unfortunatly you can't attach a 2JZ bellhousing, flexplate, and torque converter to the 7MGTE. For the input spline, I think the oil pump and the first assembly have to be swapped:

As these component have same spec, it won't hurt. What I want in my case are the stronger clutchpack;

When I talked to ATFSpeed they said the 2JZ TT A340E was the only A340E that has a 5 bolt planetary gear system...the rest are 4 bolt gear systems. When asked further, he said there's no way to swap them over. They also have less clutch packs like you said.

I'm interested in the greater number of clutch packs as well but looks like it isn't going to be as easy as 'swap these parts and you're done'. I'm also having a hard time finding a good source for many clutch packs are in each trans.

Yes, 2JZGTE A340 has a 5 bolt planetary gear system. I think we can swap the two boxes, with some modification (retaining everything in the 7MGTE A340 from pump to flexplate), the bigger one is to have a custom driveshaft to be made.

Why would you want to swap the weaker 7M internals into the TT box? Or did I misunderstand you?

Also, I've seen that the A650 transmission pump is a drop-in replacement for our A340E pumps, and it has a larger pump cavity therefore more flow. Something else to look into!

From memory, I seen that flex plate, torque converter, bellhousing, and pump (maybe just shaft) need to be kept with the engine they came with, then we can attach the TT box.

Interesting info about A650 pump
