I'd buy, if I were in the fuel crunch. The price is enough to surfice for the gas I could buy, but the performance more then makes up for that...

Only 250miles to a charge though. I can't even drive to LA with that. For local driving it would be great.

This is true, But some ways of making energy can be cleaner or greener than others. Like wind power, tidal power, solar power, and I even saw a generator the other day that is built into the roadway (on TV) that when your car drives over it, it drops and spins a generator. Supposably you can not even tell when you drive over it. Just one can supply enough power for a few houses when placed in a populated area.

FYI, that is actually a Lotus Elise with a different body and an electric motor. The Tesla is being assembled by Lotus (see page 2 of the Wired article). I think it's cool but for that much money you could almost buy two Lotus Elises which get decent gas mileage and still have great performance.
