I bought a couple of books the other day, both were written by Max Brooks. I got "World War Z" and "The Zombie surivival guide". I just finished reading "World War Z" and I figured I'd share with all my supra buddies.
I'd reccommend if you're a fan of the romero zombie films, the resident evil films, or even the 28 days/weeks series you go out and get this book, even if you're not a big reader you can enjoy this one. Basically it's a written history of the zombie war, as it proclaims in its subtitle. The authoer is writing from the perspective of a journalist/historian who is interviewing survivors, veterans, politicians, docotrs, etc after the main war on the zombies is over, although the world is still infested it is largely under control in the major countries and people are trying to rebuild thier lives. It's interesting since it's full of stories from many perspectives, regular people, military personell, doctors, teachers, cops, business people, third world citizens, smugglers, mercenaries, all kinds of different points of view and many different nationalities are included.
If the book had one major fault I would say it wasn't long enough, the story could have gone for a thousand more pages, sadly the book is justu nder 400 pages, so good for people who hate to read, although I had trouble putting it down, I read it in about 12 hours total off and on through 3 midnight shifts at work. So basically, pick this book up and read it, even if you don't buy it, go borrow it!!!
The other book by this same author, the zombie survival guide is also a great read for any die hard zombie lover, it's meant to be funny and entertaining but its kinda cool too some of the ideas presented in it, LOL.
Here's the cover of the World War Z book, I know barnes and nobles carries it, and the surivavl guide, I picked the up on the same night.
