A few issues regarding timing

I am having a issue. I fixed the idle issue and my tps was calibrated. however I am still having code 51 (goes and comes back) and sometimes idle goes back to 1500-2000rpm and I can hear a pulsating grinding noise coming from the cps area. To me the sound seems to be coming from the fan clutch? The noise is not heard when it idles correctly. When I accelerate the car it is sluggish and I hit fuel cut around 2500 rpm (engine light flashes while no throttle response and the occasional backfire). Blueish smoke on start up indicates valve stems seals, but I could be wrong.

This all started after i recently pulled the engine and put in a new clutch and put an exhaust on it. (was running nothing but turbo).

The car is going to undergo HG surgery in a few weeks but the inconvenience of not having a car is high as I have yet to be able to find work after moving... Any help would be appreciated.

So the idle is a bit off and my timing light fried... Anyways the issue with blowing the EFI fuse was because the o2 sensor ground shorted and kept blowing the fuse after about 5 sec of starting. Also the harness that runs by the turbo got melted and a few wires were melted together. Fixed that and she runs better. However there is still a little bit of white/blue smoke when I start... I'm thinking valve stem seals?

I don't see where you mentioned the fuse in your first post but if you had we could have pointed you to that fairly common cause. And trust me, it wasn't the ground that shorted ;)

Fwiw neither your timing nor idle will ever be right as long as you have a TPS caused code 51...

so it was my tps and timing. (as well as the wires that run by the turbo got burn together). the pulsating grinding noise i learned a few days later was my water pump.... it completely fell apart...
