they make re-charge kits for that, but you probably still have R12. and im pretty sure there are no kits for that.

You should just take it to a shop/dealership, they should be able to re-charge for you.

or convert to R-134a, but its not as cold.

A recharge won't help if it has a bad leak. There are way to many possibilities as to what can be wrong with the A/C system. It could be full, and not blow cold, if the clutch on the compressor doesn't work, or the high pressure switch has failed. Take your car to a local mech. and get an estimate as to what's wrong, then post back with what they tell you.

Use the search feature here. There was a pretty good thread a while back on A/C systems.

When you switch on the AC you should feel a slight drop in power when driving. Just check the compressor and see if the clutch is engaged (while parked of course), if it is
then the fuse is good, also check the mini fans if they come on when you
switch it on.
When I am in the USA and need an AC system serviced they usually give me an estimate of around 500 dollars. There must be something magic about that number for AC mechanics.
There are alternatives for charging an R12 system yourself with a product anyone can buy over the counter but if your unfamliar with your car I would suggest shelling out the money and letting a pro fix it.

It probably has something to do with repairing the faults of the system, rather than just recharging it until it gets warm again. Perhaps you will have it fixed in due time.

It's not that you don't know how, but you never tried? WTF? I didn't indicate ability to do something, but knowledge of the subject. Go for it. It is no big deal.
