Hello im new to supramania, im in the process of purchasing a 89 supra with a 7M-GteU ( turbo A ) honestly the turbo A doesnt excite me much but ive read and heard some info on 7m's ( BHG, ROD KNOCKS ) etc.. all pointing to it not being reliable.. i thought id ask some actual supra owners to get sum feed back... the supra has a t04 turbo on 10lbs of boost... and it will be daily driven ..

just put your mind at ease. rebuild if it hasn't been recently so you know the history. Make sure its fitted with ARP hardware, a metal HG, and plenty of oil and you'll be fine.

You will get shot talking like that here, not by me, but other 7M fans.

Actually, once properly maintained, a 7M will outlast most domestic engines.

I receive 17.7mpg with my 7MGTE.

LOL...it's not for the aftermarket turbo ;)

You want to run a quart high for oil (as shown on the dip stick) on ANY 7M motor. It's insurance...if you run a bit low, slosh the oil under heavy braking or turns, and uncover the oil pick-up...no oil to bearings = rod knock.
