98 sc300 1jz auto overdrive?

I recently swapped a 1jz into my 98 sc300 and it runs great except it wont go into overdrive. Im guessing it has to do with my gated shifter. Does anyone know how to get overdrive to work? I know there are threads on swapping a gated shifter into a pre-98 but cant seem to find anything going the other way. Thanks for the help.

Sure all your wiring is correct? The auto transmissions in our cars are electronically controlled, it's possible it's a wiring gremlin.
