My 89 Turbo 5 speed starts whining immediately when started up. Turning the wheel in either direction makes it worse. Assuming it's the pump. Went looking for one today at the usual parts stores...they offer 2 different pumps for my car. One with "hydraulic reaction pump" and one without it. I have been on here searching every thread about the power steering pump, but don't see that mentioned anywhere. Can someone help me as I don't know which one I need. Either way, both pumps were going to have to be ordered and wouldn't arrive for 10-14 days. So...I really want to get it right the 1st time.

Thanks for any help.

im with jetjock on this. its probably the screen in the bottom of the tank is plugged, as it acts like a filter.

the best way is remove the tank, and look inside with a light, tricky to do and see if its plugged, then carefully clean it.

other way is just stab it with a screwdriver and remove it and install a inline filter, or swap in a GE tank and extend the hoses to where ever you mount it.
