Good morning Team - just working on a customers ‘88 Supra Turbo Auto - he recently purchased this as non-running and was told it was a fuel pump. I had him bring it over to me and I confirm that there’s fuel pressure at the rail. He said he was able to get the car started one time for a minute and a half with starter fluid but didn’t use the starter fluid the whole time so I feel potentially fuel is fine.

Items I’ve already confirmed:

-Checked timing belt is in good condition and timed correctly
-NO CEL
-check spark, engine has spark
-checked fuses

-I have another car that I’m parting out so I was able to swap some parts just for a quick verification. ECU is fine, coils are good, and igniter.

Thanks for any recommendation

The fuel pump can be activated with out starting the car by jumping Fp and B+ in the diagnostic block behind the battery with the ignition switch in the on position not cranking. You should hear the whoosh of fuel at the pressure regulator in the rail. I don't know where he sprayed the starter fluid, but you can kill the Karman vortex air flow meter with liquids. Here's a link to the 1990 online manual that could be useful. Check that the fuel is not stale / discolored.
