Well, i started working on the 88 mk3 i picked up a while back. Put a battery in it and the theft deterrent computer is clicking.

Made a short video - video starts with the key in the ON position , i switch it into LOCK(off) 4 seconds into the video. The anti theft computer goes crazy:aigo:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd1RPKJP1Fs

key switch conditions
Lock - goes crazy clicking
on/run - clicks randomly every few seconds
start - can hear what i believe is the starter relay click

The guy i bought the car from had messed with the factory wiring... so.. anything could be wrong.

Anyone have ideas where to start?

Thanks

Its pretty common for the theft deterent computers to go bad.

Have you tried locking and unlocking the vehicle from both doors to see if it still happens?

like hvyman said use the key in the passenger door left to right 3 times ending with a lock position. then go to drivers door and unlock it. the electric door lock sensors tend to go bad also which causes alarm problems.
if that isnt it the wiring for the alarm should be right next to the fuse panel under the driver's side dash kickpanel and side panel.
be careful not to break the fuse board because it is pretty flimsy after 25 years. id unplug everything right there including the blue box and check connections. heck even check fuses while your down there. if there are alot of wires cut better check the tsrm
