Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, and to supra. Just recently got myself a targa top turbo mk3, planning to drop 2j into it. Just the 2jz gte today, but it's a front sump oil pan. Does anyone in here has a rear sump that want to trade with me? Or I can buy from? or do you have any suggestion to go about keeping the front sump and drop into the supra with minimal modification? Thanks all. I've read quite a few build threads from many guys in here and they're all amazing. I'm sure you guys can think of something to help me out.:icon_bigg

You need a rear/mid sump pan, front sump won't work afaik. You might as well go to a Toyota dealer and get it. Hit up Curt at Elmhurt Toyota, he has better prices than most 'yota dealers (unless you or a friend works at a dealership). The rear sump pan and pickup is 492.53 last time I priced it out.

im not exactly sure if you will need to get a new oil pump or not but if you or one of your friends can fab sheet metal you should be able to to fab your own pan for wet sump or dry sump depending on your oiling needs/ what your going to do with your MKIII. and i know there companies out there that make dry sump kits for the 2jz but idk if they would fit in an MKIII (i have never seen dry sump 2j in a MKIII) and i would also advise that only someone qualified do the mods to your car especially critical components. eg. oil pan. if there is anything i missed let me know as i dont know everthing.

What the hell?

I will bite. Your best bet is to either A: go to toyota B: find someone that has the rear sump and trade or c: post up a wanted ad on here someone will have one.

As far as needing a new oil pump you do not. The 2jzgte has the oil pump in front of the crank you will need a new rear sump pickup for it though.

The other engines section here has a few must reads before starting to attack this project.

As well BIC (becauseican) sells engine mounts for the 86.5-88.

Among these you will also need to get a 1jzgte bellhousing for the r154 and 1jzgte clutch and flywheel.

I have done the swap and it is pretty trying if you don't have all your ducks in a row.

Also expect many expenses you didn't plan for.
