87 NA 7M-GE engine and trans issues

So the car is technically my mothers but she has owned it since it rolled off the lot in 87 and only put 52,000 miles on it. unfortunetly she never did maintenence on it really except for oil changes. I have taken to driving it almost daily and am trying to get it back into shape.
I have a few problems and was wondering if anyone could suggest some things for me to check. I have a buddy that will let me use his lift but he wont really be there to help me.

When i put the car in any gear, be it 1st 2nd 3rd or whatever and im WOT the car vibrates like hell. It only happens in gear not when I clutch or put it in neutral.
The shifter is also very loose when its in gear. I can put it in first and it moves like it is in neutral. at least a 2-3 inch circle of movement
I plan on checking the trans and diff fluid but i need more direction on that if anyone could help.
Also the engine is running rough and I was wondering if there is anything that i could do thats cheap to fix it up. It has sat alot.
I have cleaned the throttlebody and the air filter.
I am going to my friends shop on saturday so if anyone could let me know by then, it would be appreciated.

Im new here so Im sorry if any of this sounds like dumb questions.

i have to ask you a few questions so that i can get a better idea of whats going on. first is it throwing any codes, if you don't know how to check there are many treads on here about that. second does it run rough all the time or just when you rev it? third did you change all the other fluids? such as coolant and rear diff and tranny. the fluids give you a pretty good indication of whats going on with the car. also what other maintance has been done to the car, such as spark plugs, wires, etc. give us these answers and more people will be able to tell you what to check. the more details you give the better.
