Buddy says it sounds like the fuel pump isn't grounded, we sprayed ether in it and it tried to fire and run but doesn't seem to be getting any fuel, any ideas?

Any codes? Need more info than that to help.
Way to many things that would cause it not to start. If you put your ear to the filler tube you can usally hear the FP running when you turn the key on.

With the key on, jumper Fp and B+ in the diag. box. You should hear fuel flowing in the fuel rail if the pump is working. Could also be fuel pump relay, resistor, wiring, some other stuff that I can't think of now.

I know its electrical, as for codes, I'm still transitioning to Toyota from a B series Honda so you gotta bear with me.
